Why is chocolate such a comfort? Robert Thayer talks about moods being a relationship between energy and tension, when we have high energy and low tension  this is our ‘happy place’, or state of flow. Completing tasks feels easy, we’re motivated and in control. When our energy levels drop and we still have low tension, we move into a relaxed state which can be a lovely place to be! But sometimes we’ve got things to do, so a little bit of chocolate for a sugar boost can move us back into ‘flow’.
