Mindapples brings Feed Your Mind to Beckmead College

This month we’re delighted to be working with Beckmead College, a vibrant SEN school supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Our trainer Andrea will be delivering our Feed Your Mind session to Year 10 and 11 students in assembly. The workshop gives young people simple, everyday tools for looking after their minds. It’s about encouraging self-awareness, normalising conversations about mental health, and helping students to find their own ways to support their wellbeing.

Evidence shows that supporting students’ wellbeing makes a difference to learning and behaviour. Public Health England highlights that mental health and attainment are strongly linked, and that a whole-school approach is most effective. Creating space for open conversations about mental health can help to build a supportive and connected school community. At Beckmead, Mindapples trainer Andrea will lead this work in assembly.

Andrea is an England Athletics Mental Health Champion, a former secondary school teacher, and currently serves as Chair of Governors at an inner London secondary school. Having navigated her own mental health journey, she is passionate about supporting young people and school communities to build resilience and strengthen their wellbeing. Through her work with Mindapples, Andrea combines professional experience with lived insight to make conversations about mental health more open, practical, and empowering.

This session is part of our wider work bringing a whole-school approach to wellbeing. We believe mental health should be part of everyday school life, for staff as well as students, and we’re proud to support schools like Beckmead in building a culture of wellbeing.

Next month we’ll share more about how the session landed, what it meant for the students, and Andrea’s reflections afterwards.
