The Stresses and Strains of School

“Laura Liz Partoon is remarkable. While still at school (she’s just left and is hoping to go to Roehampton University), she set up her own campaign,The Stresses and Strains of School. Her aim, as you can see from her short video above is to promote and improve the mental health and wellbeing of students.”

“I’ve seen friends go through the pressures of school and drop out of courses because of stress,” she says. “I’ve seen other people stay on but suffer from depression because of the stress of all the work. I think there needs to be a system to help young people cope.” That’s why she does what she does…

  1. Thank you to Mind Apples for posting this link + write up on your site, and Katthleen, thank you for your comments…

I know where you are comming from, at secondary school it was such a taboo subject, and even at uni, its still not widely talked about, when you need someone to talk to its hard to find the right people…

The campaign is currently on a short break, March – May 2010, but when we come back we will be taking the campaign into Universities around the country and into more schools in America… 🙂 to keep upto date with campaign news you can follow us on

    Many Thanks and Best Wishes,

Stress and Strain of School campaign co-ordinator.

  2. Clever girl. The one time I worked up the courage to speak to someone about my course worries at university, I went to the wrong people. I wish it had been a more openly discussed subject so I would have known where to turn to.
