Exercise cures everything!

Spark just arrived through my letterbox and I am going to talk about it even before I have read it. We have had over 500 responses so far to the Mindapples Test. *THANK YOU*, and one or two people mentioned exercise. This book I hope will explain all.

John Ratey is a clinical associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and this book is a ..

fascinating journey through the mind-body connection, presenting startling new research to prove that exercise is truly the best defence against everything from mood disorders to ADHD to addiction to menopause to Alzheimer’s. He explains that the brain works just as muscles do – growing with use, withering with inactivity – and shows why getting your heart and lungs pumping can mean the difference between a calm, focused mind and a harried, inattentive self.

Read book, exercise…

  1. And now for the daily dose of irony – I couldn’t remember if I’d done the Mindapples Test or not Only the biologically curious expression “Brain dump” jogged my memory.

Thanx alan. You couldn’t have said it best ; )

  2. Nice phrase….”harried, inattentive self.” I think we’ve all been there at some point.

Timing is everything! My favourite pool now closed for a face lift, I was tempted to give the daily swim a miss as the only sensible route to the nearest one to today’s workplace involved roadworks & rush hour. Some barely accessible reservoir of grit pushed me on though and I didn’t duck out (no aquatic pun intended). And now I’m glad. Instead of wringing out my trunks, I’d be wringing my hands with guilt.

I look forward to reading this book – probably in the sauna.
